Meet Matt Pearson
Matt is the Senior Pastor at ClearView Baptist where he focuses his attention on shepherding this flock the Father has given him. After pastoring in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Tennessee, God led Matt and his family to ClearView in Fall of 2025. Matt and his wife Katie have been married for 25 years and have three children – Luke (20), Seth (18), and Birti (18).
Matt enjoys reading, taking his dog (Eddie) on a walk with Katie in the evenings, yelling at the television when Auburn plays football, napping, smoking various meats, and drinking way too expensive coffee.

Jennifer Helton
Church Administrator
About Jennifer
Jennifer is the church administrator and on the executive staff, leading the business and operational aspects of ClearView. She has worked for ClearView in different roles since 2009 and has been the church administrator since 2018.
After graduating from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in marketing, and working in the corporate world, Jennifer received a call to ministry. Before moving to Tennessee, she served on staff at Second Baptist Church, Houston. Jennifer is a member of the national and local chapter of The Church Network, where she earned her CCA (Certified Church Administrator).
She is a proud wife to Aaron and mother to Matthew and Luke. She enjoys spending time with family and cheering on the Aggies.
Terry Welborn
IT & Tech Director
About Terry
Terry serves as IT and Worship Technology Director, overseeing campus-wide IT needs and technology needs for all worship venues, including (but not limited to) worship lights, cameras, sound systems, and campus AV needs. He also recruits and trains volunteers for worship venue positions.
Terry and his wife, Debra, started attending ClearView in 1987. He started full-time at Clearview in 2005 after a 3-year part-time position as the Music Minister’s Assistant. In that position, he rehearsed the musicians and singers, directed the choir when needed, and occasionally led worship. He continues to enjoy being part of the worship team and performing other duties.
Terry enjoys slow walks on fast days, hot coffee on any day, fishing even when they don’t bite, and hanging out with his lovely bride, Debra, as much as possible. (Oh, and playing with his grandson.)
Tracy Sellers
Preschool Minister
About Tracy
Tracy serves as the Preschool Minister, overseeing all aspects of preschool ministry, including Sunday morning and Wednesday evening, and creating age-appropriate discipleship opportunities for preschoolers. She is passionate about sharing the story of Jesus with your preschoolers and helping families grow in their faith.
She graduated from MTSU with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications. After many years working as a copywriter in the marketing and advertising industry, she joined the ClearView staff in 2015. Ask her how she ended up in preschool ministry. It’s a story that has God in all the details!
Tracy and her husband, Paul, were married in 1997 and have been members of ClearView since 2006. They have three amazing big kids: a married daughter and two sons in college. When she’s not at church, Tracy loves to read (mostly historical fiction), thrift for treasures, and spend time with her family.

Alexis Cruz
Worship Pastor
About Alexis
Alexis Cruz has served as the Music Pastor at ClearView Baptist Church since 2008, where he plans and leads worship for Sunday morning services and equips student worship bands for grades 6-12.
With a passion for music and ministry, Alexis toured with a Christian music group from 1996 to 2000 before becoming the Worship Pastor at Hamilton Community Church in Chattanooga, TN, from 2001 to 2008. Since 2002, he has also been a keyboard player for Travis Cottrell.
Alexis is married to Vicki Cruz, and together they have five children: Elton, Lauren, Ben, Chase, and Josh. When he’s not leading worship, he enjoys jazz, songwriting, working out, and all kinds of food.
Chelsi Bassham
Kids Minister
About Chelsi
Chelsi serves as the Kids Minister, focusing on serving and discipling all 1st through 5th grade students and their families. Since joining the team at ClearView in 2024, Chelsi has enjoyed building relationships and partnering with families to help them grow in their faith.
After moving to Nashville to work as a Program Specialist with FUGE Camps at Lifeway, the Lord began to reveal a call to ministry. Chelsi is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Family Counseling at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and is excited to follow the Lord’s lead.
Outside work, Chelsi loves to bake, explore new places with her husband, Preston, and spend time with their dog, Goose. Always up for an adventure, Chelsi cherishes the opportunity to experience life to the fullest.
Cindy Cornelius
ClearView Prep Director
About Cindy
Cindy serves as the Director of ClearView Prep Preschool, overseeing ClearView’s Tuesday/Thursday preschool program. She knew at a young age that God was calling her to work with young children. Cindy graduated from Western Kentucky University with an Early Childhood Education degree and enjoyed teaching kindergarten. She fell in love with ClearView’s program when her two children, now teenagers, joined the preschool. In 2015, Cindy knew God was calling her back to teaching and was excited to help teach three-year-olds. Two years later, she became the assistant director and is now the director. She feels blessed to open the doors of ClearView Prep every Tuesday and Thursday and spread Jesus’ love to the children and their families.
Cindy enjoys spending time with her family, walking, and traveling.

Jamie Savley
Student Minister
About Jamie
Jamie serves as the Student Minister. His main role is to minister to students. This includes walking students through accepting Christ into their lives, helping them see God in difficult circumstances, and teaching them how to share Jesus with others. He is also in charge of Summer Camp, Student Mission Trips, and DNOW. Jamie received his bachelor’s in student ministry from Lee University and later got his master’s in business management and leadership from Bryan College.
Jamie joined ClearView’s staff in 2021 through the Kingdom Growth Institute Residency Program. Before ClearView, he interned for several youth pastors and worked with FUGE Camps. He is very passionate about two things: Jesus and students.
Jamie received the call to student ministry during his senior year of high school. Jamie’s interests include anything from the Tennessee Vols to football and his family.
James Smetanin
Worship Ministry Resident
About James
James “Smitty” Smetanin serves as the Worship Ministry Resident, assisting the Worship Pastor with Sunday and midweek services, joyfully leading worship, and serving fellow church members on the worship team.
Since the time James began following Jesus Christ, he’s served in various worship ministries. He felt a specific call toward vocational ministry during his senior year of high school, which led him to study ministry and theology, culminating in an M.Div. from an SBC seminary in 2024.
With this passion for music and theology, James began serving ClearView in March 2026, and ever since, he’s felt at home with the staff and church body. Aside from his role at ClearView, “Smitty” loves making memories with his beautiful wife, Kelsey. He also enjoys songwriting, reading, cooking, weightlifting, and laughing.
Jennifer Lein
Finance Assistant
About Jennifer
Jennifer Lein is the Finance Assistant, responsible for assisting with all the church’s financial responsibilities, including contributions, payables, month and year-end close, financial reports for committee and business meetings, giving statements, external financial audit, budgets, annual church profile, and other miscellaneous financial projects.
She is also one of the Floater Teachers with ClearView Prep Preschool and oversees all the Tuition and Extended Care payments. She started at CV Prep in January 2015 as a Substitute Teacher.
Jennifer has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Alabama. After college and working several accounting jobs for 12 years, from Auditor to Corporate Controller, she became a stay-at-home mom to raise her children.
Jennifer started attending church at ClearView in 2003 and became an employee in 2013. She has been in the Finance Assistant position since August 2018. Originally from Brentwood, TN, Jennifer and her husband, David, have four children, who all grew up actively involved at ClearView. Jennifer loves volunteering with and attending her children’s activities, as well as walking and hiking.
Kim Margrave
Missions & Active Adults Minister
About Kim
Kim serves as the Adult and Missions Minister, working with Adult small groups and our mission partners locally, nationally, and globally. Kim served as Volunteer Missions Specialist with the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board for 22 years before coming on staff at ClearView in August 2019. While at the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, Kim worked with churches across Tennessee to engage in strategic partnerships, facilitate training events, and promote mission involvement.
Kim grew up in Pigeon Forge, TN, and attended Tennessee Technological University. She and her husband, Ande, along with her son Gunner, can be found watching Gunner play tennis and traveling.

Molly Atkins
Communications Director
About Molly
Molly serves as the Communications Director, overseeing all aspects of communications, including social media, print materials, videos, photos, internal and external promotion, and the website. With a background in marketing and a passion for ministry, Molly combines her media skills with her love for Jesus. She graduated from Wright State University in Dayton, OH, in May of 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing.
After several years working as a Summer Staffer for FUGE Camps, she joined ClearView through the Kingdom Growth Institute Residency Program. Since joining the team in 2021, Molly has enjoyed collaborating with staff to highlight the exciting ways God is moving in the church and promoting events internally and externally. Outside of her role, Molly loves traveling or relaxing at home with her dog, Henry.
Nancy Thomas
Adult Ministry Specialist
About Nancy
Nancy was called to be on staff in May of 2019. She currently serves part-time as the Adult Ministry Specialist, overseeing all administrative needs of adult ministry. My previous roles at ClearView were Women’s Minister and Office Coordinator.
Previous management experience includes 10 years at Nabisco Headquarters in the Marketing and Finance departments. She stayed at home for 20 years to raise a family. Volunteer roles include Bible Study Fellowship, Community Bible Study Leader for over 20 years, and a children’s Sunday School Teacher. Currently, she is the Women’s Ministry leader, teaches the Women Growing in Grace small group on Sunday morning, is a member of the Freedom Prayer team, and has newly started a chapter of the Embrace Grace ministry that supports pregnant single women.
Her passions in ministry are facilitating small groups of women in Bible Study, Freedom Ministry, and women’s events that lead to community.
She graduated from Taylor University in 1985 with a degree in business systems analysis. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, and grew up in New Jersey.
Nancy has been married to Jerry since 1992 and has three children and three grandchildren. She enjoys vacationing at the beach and the mountains in her free time, reading, and spending time with family.
Vicky Stiles
Director of Facilities
About Vicky
Vicky Stiles joined ClearView in 2019 and has 20+ years of corporate and non-profit experience in administration, facilities and project management, and events and wedding planning.
As the Director of Facilities, Vicky manages and directs all facility operations: building and grounds maintenance and repairs, capital facilities projects, facilities service providers, safety, security, and facility risk and compliance. She also schedules and manages the facilities aspects of all campus events while collaborating with ClearView ministries, church members, and other event organizers to ensure smooth operations and a positive event experience for their attendees.
Vicky is a native of Southern California and has a bachelor’s degree in business and management (BSBAM) from the University of Redlands. Her happy place is long, quiet walks and bike rides on the beach.
