While many of our students and families were away for Spring Break, we had a group that gave a couple of days to various mission and service projects. On Thursday and Friday, High School Ministry engaged in our Serve Your City project. On Thursday, our group was able to work here at the church during the morning and spend some time in our clothes closet and cleaning various parts of the chuch. After lunch, our group headed to Room in the Inn in Nashville where we spent the afternoon learning about the ministry of Room in the Inn and helping them with some upcoming projects they were involved in.
On Friday, our team started the day at Thriftsmart here in Franklin and worked with clothing distribution and sorting through various donations that were received. After lunch, we served with Graceworks and providing manpower for the many various tasks they do on a daily basis. Following dinner, we headed back to Nashville to work the coffeehouse at Nashville Rescue Mission.
A few things that I took away from the days:
- There are tremendous needs within our local area.
- The influence that these ministries have is substantial.
- You can be a light to those around simply by being available.
It was so encouraging to see our students be the hands and feet of Christ and serve. We had a fantastic experience and were able to provide some much needed support to local ministries who are making a huge difference for Christ.
