Mentor Work Day At DCS

I was able to be a part of the Mentor Work Project Day at DCS. We got the opportunity to serve by sorting clothes and wiping down all sorts of toys and books. I had a ton of fun with everyone who went! It wasn't just any opportunity to serve, but it was also something fun we all were able to do with our mentor/mentees in the Girls Ministry. Eliza, Macy and I sorted through teenage girl clothes to help organize everything for DCS, so it would be easier for them to find and use things for the people staying in the safe room, or those who were going out into a new home.

The safe room is just a comfortable place where kids can hang out while they wait to be placed into care somewhere. The people at DCS came up with the idea several years ago, because the kids who were waiting had tons of downtime on their hands as their worker filled out a lot of paper work to get the child into a home.

It was such an amazing opportunity to be able to serve in a ministry that's constantly helping kids and showing God's love to them during tough times!
