Sunday, August 2 was a wonderful night. 130 leaders gathered for our yearly leadership training. There was excitement in the room as ClearView volunteers looked forward to the 2015 – 2016 ministry year.
Mark Satterfield started the evening off with a great challenge. He spoke on building trust. He said: “At the heart of vulnerability lies the willingness of people to abandon their pride and their fear, to sacrifice their egos for the collective good of the church.”
Relationships in the church are extremely vital and leaders need to care about people, not just give them knowledge. We are to: “love like Jesus, eat like Jesus, weep like Jesus, listen like Jesus, be in their space like Jesus, give like Jesus, serve like Jesus, and pray like Jesus.”
Leadership involves helping people so they can use their God-given gifts. Leaders “provide resources, mutual accountability and ongoing training. They “provide opportunities for feedback, expectations, and encouragement.”
After the large group session, everyone broke up into several ministry areas. Specific ministry leaders gave expectations for the year and went through curriculum and plans. It was great for volunteers to meet in their specific areas to collaborate together as they serve together in ministry this year at ClearView.
