Director of Worship and Arts Announcement

Church Family,

Yesterday, Pastor Eric announced that Matt Papa has accepted the offer from Eric, myself and our Personnel Committee to join our staff as Director of Worship and Arts. Beginning on February 28th, Matt will be the primary worship leader in the Worship Center while Alexis Cruz remains the primary worship leader in the Chapel. Both Alexis and Matt will also develop other worship leaders, with Alexis continuing to focus on students.

Matt is a sought-after worship leader for events and conferences all around the country. He previously served as the worship leader at Summit Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. As a songwriter, Matt has recorded, arranged and produced over 70 original songs on 7 albums. As an author, Matt’s first book is entitled, "Look & Live,” and is a loud and liberating call to behold the glory of God in the face of Christ. More importantly, Matt is the husband of seven years to Lauren and father to four kids - Paisley (6), Stella (4), Sofi (2), and Jackson (1).

Here is what a few others have said about Matt:

"Matt Papa cares about the glory of God...He cares about you and me getting to grips with that glory…. Sometimes as preacher, sometimes as prophet...with kindness, seriousness, and love..." - Matt Redman, songwriter and worship leader

"I believe Matt is the greatest songwriter of our generation… I honestly don’t know of anyone who has taught me more about worship than Matt Papa." - JD Greear, Pastor, The Summit Church

Our worship ministry staff (Alexis, TW, and Robbie) are excited as well. Over a year ago, they actually attended a workshop on worship leadership that Matt was leading. Also, Matt is the worship leader at the camp our students will be attending this summer (Eric will be the camp pastor!). It will be a great week for our students.

We heard lots of great feedback from ClearView folks on Sunday, but we weren't expecting so much response from people outside of ClearView via social media. It’s great to see that people outside of ClearView are excited for our church and the days ahead.

You can hear some of Matt’s music at http://www.mattpapa.com and we have copies of his book available in our library. Please join me in praying for, welcoming and encouraging Matt and Lauren as they begin their ministry with us.

Mark Satterfield,

Executive Pastor
