[Read Below for Norma's Favorite Things]
Born in 1939 at home, Norma Watson’s bed was a dresser drawer. Her sister thought she was a doll and that is how she got the nickname, Doll. Norma married the man next door when she was 17. They eloped to Mississippi the summer before Norma’s senior year in high school. Norma and her husband were married for 45 ½ years. Sadly, he passed away in 2002. Norma moved to Franklin in 2003. She has one son, two daughters, three grandchildren and two great-grandkids. She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and takes spring break and summer trips with them. Norma likes to travel. She has her own home and a 11-year-old Schnauzer named Gracie.
A cake decorator, Norma creates delicious cakes for weddings, showers, and birthdays. She enjoys cooking, trying new recipes and sharing them with others. She sews, does machine embroidery and quilts. She has several ribbons from the fair for her quilts. Norma got a blue ribbon for a Christmas tree skirt last year. She rides a cruiser bike for exercise and when it's cold, Norma likes to walk at the Y. She volunteers as an usher twice a month at the Nashville Symphony.
When she was 35 years old, Norma became a believer in Jesus Christ. She realized that being a Christian was more than head knowledge about Jesus. She is so thankful that the Holy Spirit pursued her.
Norma worked as a receptionist for Weight Watchers for 28 years. She taught Sunday school for many years, was a children’s director for two years and a preschool director for one year at Joelton First Baptist Church.
Since 2003, Norma has worked in childcare at CCC. Sometimes she does childcare for other churches. This is her 3rd year at CCC as a teacher. Norma embroiders the name and date on a white handkerchief when a person is baptized. She also includes an embroidered bookmark. Norma does this for several churches as a ministry.
Serving the Lord through missions is important to Norma. She has been on several mission trips with ClearView to Belize, Alaska and to NYC.
