Our History

An organization’s future is much stronger when it recognizes its past and builds on that foundation. ClearView is very fortunate to have a strong and stable history, one that is founded on the principles of God. ClearView is very fortunate that a group of sixteen families caught a vision from God to start a church in an unpopulated area of Williamson County Tennessee called Cool Springs. Today those sixteen families would surely look back and say that their dream became a God size miracle. In 1983 only God could have seen the potential of placing a church in the middle of Cool Springs.

In 1983 sixteen families joined to form The Mission on Moore’s Lane which was sponsored by Brentwood Baptist Church and the Nashville Baptist Association. One short year later in 1984, the name ClearView was chosen and this fledgling church began meeting at Brentwood High School.

In 1985 ClearView called Bob Norman as its first pastor and acquired land on Franklin Road. In the three years after the property purchase, ClearView’s first building was constructed and today it continues to be used for worship services and many other activities.

In ClearView’s history there have only been three senior pastors and in 1997 the second of these, Dr. Bret Robbe, begin to lead.

In the late 1990s it became necessary to provide more space for this growing congregation so a second major building project was completed in 2000. This square footage provided more space for preschoolers, children and students.

In 2006-2007 the pastoral leadership at ClearView went through a transition when Mark Marshall was called to be the third, full-time senior pastor in its history.

As ClearView continued to expand its ministries, adding multiple service times and witnessing steady growth in attendance, it again became apparent that more space was needed. This time the building project would have five main goals:

  • Curb appeal
  • A second worship venue
  • Preschool classrooms
  • Childrens’ Worship Room
  • A second youth worship venue This latest phase of building expansion was completed in 2009.

Today ClearView continues to look toward the future finding hope and strength through the testimony of its own past lived through God’s faithfulness.
