Building Updates

To state the obvious, the completion of the building is near. Soon the entire look and feel of the campus will change. I’ve heard some interesting stories and statements about the use of the new chapel area … most of which are not true. So let me clarify.

The overriding principle for building anything at ClearView is flexibility and functionality. So, there will be no pews in the new chapel. Only chairs. As you will see, this room is going to be beautiful space. We have already had 12 requests for weddings in the coming months. At the same time, we will have flexibility to use the room for conference space as well as other uses.

We will NOT be moving our main worship venue to the chapel. The current worship space seats 800. The chapel will seat 450. However, we will use the chapel as a second venue. The way this will work is that the music in the chapel will be live (meaning real people on the platform in that room). The message will be delivered to the chapel via video technology. In other words, I will be on screen in the chapel while at the same time preaching in the current worship space.

The current service times (9:30 and 11:00) will be the worship times when the building opens. We will begin (in February) a “more traditional” worship service in the chapel. I have been asked to define what that means. Well, the best I can do is to tell you there will be hymn books used. One of the primary core values we have as a staff is excellence. We are providing staffing and support for this worship in a way that will bring excellence and quality to the worship.

At a later date, we will be adding an additional worship service in the chapel that will be similar in style to the one we have in the current venue. The start date for this service will depend on the growth of the two services in the current venue. Bottom line: Unless you choose to attend the “more traditional” service there will be no immediate change for you in when and where you worship.

The ultimate praise for all this is we now have room to expand as needed for some time into the future.

August 26, 2007- Ground Breaking

 How We Got Here

In the Spring of 2007 the Franklin Board of Mayor and Alderman approved the Concept/Master for the entire ClearView campus.  This Concept/Master plan lays the groundwork for a complete build out of the land that God has provided.

On July 26, 2007 the Planning Commission of the City of Franklin approved the Site Plan for the first phase of the Concept/Master Plan.  This means…we are one step closer to seeing the first phase of buildings come out of the ground.  The next steps are finalizing the architectural plans and drawings so that the building permit can be obtained.  The building committee is meeting regularly with the architects and engineers and these drawings are well on their way to being completed.

We are excited that God made it possible for us to be at this juncture and are anticipating what great plans He has in store for us in the future.

March 15, 2007

The Concept/Master Plan for ClearView has cleared all hurdles with the City of Franklin. At the Tuesday, March 13, 2007 meeting of the City of Franklin Board of Mayor and Alderman, the Concept/Master Plan for the entire campus of ClearView was approved.  This process took about 10 months, however, it will never have to be done again and it provides a plan for the total build-out of 50 plus acres that make up the ClearView campus.  This approval by the city of Franklin also annexes all of our acres into the Franklin City limits.

So what is the next step…

Plans are already being developed for the proposed ‘first phase’ of the Concept/Master plan.  The Building Committee has been meeting regularly and often with the architects and contractors so that the process could move forward after the City of Franklin’s approval.  The next meeting of the Building Committee will be on March 26.  It is at this meeting that the architect and contractor will help us determine a budget for the first phase.

Continue to pray for the building process and all the people involved in the design and implementation of that design.

February 21, 2007 (Business Meeting Report Presented by Greg Richard)

First of all, I want to thank every member of Clearview who has so faithfully prayed for the Building Committee – and I would ask you to continue to pray that we be in God’s will and all we do may be for His glory.

As most of you know, our master plan was passed, 6-1, on the second reading by the BOMA last Tuesday February 13th.  We have to go through one more vote on Tuesday, March 13th.  We do not anticipate any of the Aldermen changing their vote and remain optimistic that our master plan will pass again on the 3rd and final reading.

It has been a long and time consuming process, but we can see light at the end of the tunnel.  We were asked to make a number of modifications to our original plan but we were able to work with the City Planning Commission to develop an agreeable compromise.

We lost only 30 parking spaces and had to agree upon increasing some buffer space to our south but not until a later phase of the master plan. We also had to make some modification to our landscaping toward Franklin Road to help lower the perception of building height but were able to keep our 3 floors and chapel appearance in tack. We lost no classroom or worship space.

Between now and the 3rd vote by BOMA on March 13th, we will be working with our architects and contractors to develop new cost estimates to build Phase One of our master plan.

As we have reported before, we know the original construction cost estimates have increased significantly primarily due to the escalation of cost in building materials but also labor cost have increased and our being annexed into Franklin is another contributing factor.

Our meeting with the architects and contractors will be Sunday, February 25th & Monday, February 26th. It would be our intent to bring back to you this latest cost estimate to construct Phase One of the master plan; have discussion and then vote again to proceed or not with the building of Phase One. We hope to be though the political and primary regulatory process with the vote on the 13th however we are really at the start of realizing the vision of those who worked so diligence on the master plan and the plan you voted to build.

I want to conclude tonight by thanking the members of the church staff and building committee for your time and dedication. I think we all realize that we are not simply building a structure; we are helping create a place that will introduce individuals to Christ, will grow and nurture families in His body and will extend to the greater Nashville area and far corners of the world to sped the gospel. Thank you and please continue to bath this process in prayer.

(Concept/Master Plan gets a positive vote from City of Franklin Board of Mayor and Alderman)

On Tuesday, February 13 at the monthly meeting of the City of Franklin Board of Mayor and Alderman (BOMA) meeting, the ClearView proposed Concept/Master plan for our entire campus received a favorable vote.  This is the second of three positive votes needed for approval.  This second vote is crucial, because it is here that ClearView was able to work out and get approved all the conditions that are being required by the city of Franklin.  The compromise that was worked out and voted on does not change the scope or square footage of the overall project.

The ClearView Concept/Master Plan will come before BOMA again at its March meeting for the third and final time.  Please continue to pray that this plan will proceed through BOMA so that we can begin work on building the first phase of this plan.

The building committee and staff wishes to thank you for your support and patience through this process. We ask that you keep this process on your prayer list, always praying for wisdom and guidance for the leadership team, that through this process we can be a light for Christ in our community.

Seeking God’s View….

Over the last few years that’s exactly what ClearView has been on a quest to do…to see what God has planned.  Through this process of searching God’s View we have been amazed to see what He has already done from the church’s beginnings in 1987 with 100 members; through steady growth and a first building phase in 1989; a second building phase in 2000; a revamping of a strategic plan in 2004 and a current development of a master plan for the 50 acres that ClearView now occupies on Franklin Road.

A Concept/Master Plan that gives direction for a complete buildout of the 50 acres is now before the City of Franklin Board of Mayor and Alderman for approval. As soon as this approval process is complete, ClearView will begin the next building phase. This phase will include more space for preschoolers, children, and youth and a 400 seat chapel where a variety of services and activities can be held.

We continue to seek God’s view as we strive to carry out the mission to which we have been called and that is to be a light for Christ in Franklin, Brentwood, Williamson County and even reaching through many countries of this world.
